About Our SpeakerJillian is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering at UCF. Her dream is to one day walk on Mars, but she knows there are countless goals she must achieve before she is spaceflight ready! Her previous work experiences include internships in the Commercial Space Industry with a focus on Lunar Robotic Technologies at the Earthrise Space Foundation, Inc., and analyzing technical risks for new and existing Gas Turbines at Siemens Energy. In 2020, she became a published author for her undergraduate research at UCF investigating the effects of solar and galactic radiation at the surface of airless bodies in space like the Moon, Mars, and near-Earth asteroids. Her current research position investigates next generation propulsion capabilities for hypersonic suborbital and reusable space vehicles and power generation systems at UCF in partnership with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). In addition to her research, Jillian serves as the External Relations Manager for the world’s highest-fidelity manufacturing organization for Lunar, Martian, and Asteroid simulants at Exolith Lab. Jillian has proven to be an advocate for STEM & Space Exploration through both local endeavors with the Barnes & Noble, NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex, Women In Defense, Orange County Public Schools, and the Central Florida STEM Education Council; as well as through global platforms via partnerships with LinkedIn, Fox’s Xploration Outerspace TV show, and the Discovery Channel Canada. She strongly believes that by sharing her own love and excitement for space, she can inspire others to dream big!
