Hello Pioneers!

We will continue our virtual speaker series on March 23rd at 7:00 PM. Our speaker will be our very own board member, Jim Carleton, on the search for Space Shuttle Challenger. Jim worked as a primary shuttle engineer that was on the dive team for Space Shuttle Challenger recovery efforts.

The event will be held on Zoom (see link and info below) and will also be live-streamed on our Facebook page, facebook.com/spacepioneers.

About Our Speaker

Jim Carleton recently retired from the aerospace business after 40 years of service. He supported several missile, rocket and all 135 Space Shuttle launches. Jim worked at United Space Alliance (USA), a prime contractor for the Space Shuttle Program, most recently as the Solid Rocket Booster Program Manager, Director of Program Management.

Jim served several roles at USA, including Director of Space Shuttle Upgrades and Director of Manufacturing Operations.  Prior to USA, Jim worked as an Engineering Manager and Program Manager for United Technologies Corporation, USBI.  Jim is a Certified Manager with the Institute of Certified Managers and a graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology Certified Manager curriculum. He also serves on the board of the Missile, Space, and Range Pioneers.

Jim retired from the United States Marine Corps, is a Vietnam Veteran and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.  Jim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.
